City information![]() Corner Brook Newfoundland and Labrador is the easternmost province of Canada. It became the tenth province to enter the Canadian Confederation on 31 March 1949. The Strait of Belle Isle separates the province into two geographical divisions, Labrador and island of Newfoundland. Corner Brook is located on the west coast of the island portion of the province. The city is nestled among the folded and faulted Long Range Mountains, which are a continuation of the Appalachian Mountain belt, stretching up from Georgia in the Southern United States. Set at the mouth of the Bay of Islands, the cityis 40 km inland from the open waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. ![]() Bay of Islands The landscape of the Corner Brook region is rugged and the scenery is spectacular.
